Collaborative Family Study
The Collaborative Family Study is a joint project between UCR, UCLA, and Penn State and is interested in the development of emotional and behavioral self-regulation in young children, and how the familial interaction serves as a contributing factor. The researchers are interested in learning about how children and their families handle a variety of situations at different stages in the child's early life, and how these processes influence the children's course of development. Specifically, the study looks at the differences in family dynamics and the emergence of self-regulation both within and between two groups: families with typically developing children, and families with children who are experiencing some level of developmental delay.
Applied Behavioral Analysis Pilot Study
This study is examining family functioning in the context of intensive ABA services. Parents are encouraged to participate if their child is receiving over 25 hours of ABA services in the home. The project is designed to answer many questions including:
- What do parents perceive to be the challenges and rewards for families of children in ABA services?
- What kinds of families thrive vs. struggle with their participation in services, and what can be done to improve the experience for everyone?
